## Summary

The Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO) is currently conducting an open tender process for the provision of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Hire and Maintenance Services, focusing on the warehouse and transport sectors. The tender, under the title "Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Hire and Maintenance Services," is in the tender stage and was published on 8th May 2026. Located in Wakefield, United Kingdom, the procurement falls under the goods category, with an estimated contract value of £6 million. The project aims to replace existing equipment with safer, more efficient, and energy-saving solutions across YPO's primary distribution site and secondary warehouse. Key dates include a tender submission deadline on 15th June 2026, and an award period ending on 7th August 2026. This open procedure tender will be divided into two lots: Lot 1 covering the warehouse fleet with an initial contract term of 7 years, and Lot 2 covering vehicle-mounted delivery equipment with a 3-year term.

This tender offers a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in industrial equipment, specifically those with capabilities in providing and managing material handling facilities. Ideal candidates would be SMEs with experience in delivering innovative, energy-efficient solutions that enhance safety and operational compliance. Businesses with expertise in integrating modern technologies, such as real-time fleet management systems, and those prepared to align with YPO’s sustainability goals, will be well-suited to compete. The long-term nature of the contracts, along with the potential for renewal and additional optional purchases, positions this project as a substantial growth opportunity for potential suppliers aiming to expand their presence within stable supply frameworks in the public sector.
