## Summary

Wrexham County Borough Council, operating within the parameters of Welsh devolved regulations, intended to facilitate a public procurement process focusing on delivering essential childcare training. The project, titled "Provision of Childcare Training", targeted services within the health and social work sector, specifically in the region UKL23, United Kingdom. With the procurement method employed being below threshold - open competition, the process encompassed several phases, including planning, tender, award, and eventual cancellation. While significant milestones were achieved, including the awarding of contracts to suppliers such as Groundwork North Wales and Matthew Cooke T/A The Training Co, the overall contract was ultimately cancelled, citing specific reviewed requirements identified concerning service deliverables. Key dates included a planned procurement notice in December 2025, tenders and awards in April 2026, leading to the cancellation of the tender in May 2026.

This procurement represented substantial business growth opportunities, especially for SMEs in the services sector focused on educational and childcare training. The training was designed to cater to various needs of the early years and childcare workforce through varied schedules like day-time, evening, and weekend courses, ensuring flexibility and accessibility. By focusing on safeguarding at different levels and paediatric first aid, the tenders were well-suited for organisations with expertise in safeguarding and healthcare training. With the opportunity for renewal over extended periods, this procurement process encouraged sustained business engagement, although its eventual cancellation limited immediate opportunities.
