## Summary

NHS Blood and Transplant, a central government public authority based in Bristol, UK, is in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Supply of Arm Cleansing System". This procurement falls under the medical consumables industry category and aims to service various UK blood transfusion services, including the Irish, Northern Irish, Scottish, and Welsh Blood Services. The initiative is to ensure a standardised and validated arm cleansing process for aseptic blood collection that reduces infection risks. The project is scheduled to open for virtual supplier engagement sessions, and interested parties must contact NHS Blood and Transplant by 9th January 2026, with the contractual period expected to start on 16th August 2026 and conclude by 15th August 2030. The procurement is facilitated as a framework agreement with a total estimated value of £3,600,000 gross.

This tender provides a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in medical consumables, specifically small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), due to an express suitability guarantee. Companies involved in the manufacturing or supply of arm cleansing systems or related products could gain substantial business growth by engaging in this procurement process. The framework agreement structure and the project's integration with the broader UK Forum of blood transfusion services present a collaborative platform for suppliers to expand their market presence across the UK and potentially secure long-term contracts with multiple transfusion services under a unified procurement. Participating businesses can benefit from early engagement through planned virtual sessions to tailor their proposals to meet specific NHSBT and UK Forum requirements effectively.
