## Summary

The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is in the planning stages of reprocurement for the SOC Out-of-Hours Protective Monitoring Service. This procurement is in the services category under Information technology services and is anticipated to cover the hybrid monitoring needs of Defra's Security Operations Centre. The procurement process is slated to follow timelines beginning from 10th March 2026, with the contract award expected on 11th June and commencement on 1st November 2026. Interested parties must work towards deadlines such as the ITT submission on 20th April 2026. The procurement is facilitated through the Crown Commercial Service's DPS, specifically the Cyber Security Services 3 DPS, with a contract value of £1.2 million, indicating substantial opportunity for service providers specialising in IT services.

This tender offers a promising prospect for businesses in the IT sector, particularly those focusing on consulting and support services. Companies with expertise in cybersecurity or IT service provision are well-positioned to bid for this opportunity. Registering on the DPS is crucial for companies wishing to be considered, enabling them to access government procurement markets. Competitive companies should have the ability to provide continuous monitoring solutions outside standard working hours, aligning with Defra's requirements. SMEs with agile offerings in cybersecurity may see significant growth potential, leveraging their capabilities to deliver effective out-of-hours protective monitoring services.

## Notice

Defra's Security Operations Centre (SOC) is reliant on a hybrid model for protective monitoring, whereby Defra's internal SOC provides coverage during standard business hours (09:00-17:00) Monday to Friday and an external supplier delivers monitoring outside these hours. Defra is seeking to reprocure this out-of-hours Protective Monitoring SOC service when the incumbent contract expires on 31st October 2026.
