## Summary

The Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) in the United Kingdom is in the planning stage of a procurement process, seeking to hire a supplier for conducting a comprehensive risk assessment of data centres across the UK. This initiative, under a tender titled "UK2 Notice Template", falls within the telecommunications consultancy services industry. The assessment aims to evaluate critical risk vectors and identify threats and vulnerabilities affecting the resilience of data centre operations. Interested suppliers should note the market engagement deadline set for 31st December 2025 and the project contract period running from 1st January to 31st March 2026. The procurement process is linked with service provision and is classified as below the usual threshold, indicating a contract value of £80,000, grossing up to £100,000.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for telecommunications and infrastructure consultancy businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, as indicated by its suitability classification. Companies specialising in research services and infrastructure works consultancy will find this project aligns with their expertise, particularly in the areas of risk management and data protection. With DSIT aiming for an evidence-based understanding to influence policy development, businesses able to systematically assess and rank risk vectors will be well-positioned to compete. Engaging in this contract could significantly enhance a business's visibility within the UK government sector, offering a pathway to influence national standards for data centre operations.

## Notice

The Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) is seeking a supplier to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment of data centres in the UK. The assessment must systematically evaluate the sector across a range of critical risk vectors, ensuring that all relevant threats and vulnerabilities are identified and addressed. This assessment is intended to provide an evidence-based understanding of the current landscape, identifying threats and vulnerabilities that may impact the resilience and security of data centre operations. The scope of the assessment is broad, encompassing physical security, personnel security, operational technology (OT) security, business continuity, supply chain security, risk management, data centre facilities and data protection. Whilst cyber security risks will play a part in this report (e.g. insider threat), they should not be the primary focus as DSIT can pull on an existing body of knowledge relating to the cyber vector. The work should identify and rank all vectors by severity. This risk assessment will play a part in policy development and will be used by DSIT to help identify relevant standards and other mitigations that data centres operators could follow to minimise risk.
