The Defence Equipment and Support, a public authority within the UK central government, based in Bristol, is organising a procurement process focused on the "Disposal of Waste and Surplus Petrol, Oils and Lubricants (POL)." The tender falls under the services category with a comprehensive goal of ethical and compliant recycling and disposal of POL from military and naval operations. This process is currently in the planned stage with a contract period set to begin on 15th March 2027 and potentially extending to 2035. A Preliminary Market Engagement Notice has been issued, inviting interested suppliers to submit responses by 16:00 on 1st July 2026, as part of a Request for Information (RFI) process. The procurement strategy intends to gather market insights to inform future procurement and facilitate pre-tender engagement. Moreover, the use of a Framework Agreement has been indicated within the competitive flexible procedure method.

This tender provides a substantial business opportunity given its scale, with a total estimated value of £14 million and different services required for compliant and efficient waste disposal. Companies in the sectors of waste management, recycling, and environmental protection are particularly suited to this contract, especially those with experience working in defence and sensitive environments. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to consider applying due to the procurement's suitability criteria, which aim to foster innovation and offer opportunities for market growth through the delivery of scalable solutions. By actively participating in the RFI, businesses can influence procurement strategies, potentially gaining a competitive advantage in the upcoming tender process.
