## Summary

The procurement process was executed by UK Research and Innovation, located in Swindon, United Kingdom, under the title "CSP25710 - FF DMI Connectors Cryogenic optical fibers upgrade for QC-SOAR". This process, categorised in the industry of fibre-optic materials, falls under a non-competitive procurement stage at the Award stage, due to technical reasons necessitating the selection of a specific supplier, Diamond SA, a large-scale company based in Switzerland. The contract, valued at CHF 15,996, was signed on 15th December 2025, with activities expected to occur between 18th and 23rd December 2025. The procurement method was direct, adhering to requirements that did not exceed the competitive threshold.

This tender presents unique opportunities for businesses specialising in optical and quantum computing technologies. With the UK's expanding focus on cutting-edge IT and quantum technologies, entities capable of providing specialised fibre-optic materials may gain strategic advantages. Ideal participants would be vendors proficient in the production and integration of advanced optical solutions, particularly those who can offer customisations aligning with the specific technical needs, such as cryogenic optical fibre assemblies suited for quantum computing applications. Partnering on such projects could lead to future collaborations with research entities and government bodies in the rapidly evolving tech-driven sectors, thus driving significant business growth.

## Notice

***** THIS IS A CONTRACT DETAILS NOTICE, NOT A CALL FOR COMPETITION ***** This procurement is being concluded without competition due to an absence of competition for technical reasons, only a particular supplier can supply the goods, services or works required. Brief Description of Requirement The QC-SOAR project aims to demonstrate optical readout of superconducting multi-qubit systems, using the transducer technology from the company QphoX. The experimental demonstration for this project is taking place at the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), in one of the dilution refrigerators from the Superconducting Circuits team. In line with the projects plan, the NQCC needs to upgrade the cryogenic setup in the dilution refrigerator to include the optical fibers required to perform the experiments. This contract is for the upgrade of the NQCC's dilution refrigerator to include optical fibers to satisfy the requirements for the QC-SOAR project. The optical fibers upgrade will consist of two identical 6 channels, i.e., 6 optical fibers, assemblies mounted on a KF50 port each. The assemblies will include the fibers (SMF28) and the KF50 vacuum feedthroughs to integrate with the dilution refrigerator. The length of the fibers is defined to ease the integration with the system, and will include FC/APC low-insertion-loss connectors in the atmospheric pressure side and Diamond Micro Interface (DMI) connectors in the vacuum side.
