## Summary

On 22nd December 2025, NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, issued an intention to award notice under the Provider Selection Regime Wales (PSR Wales). This procurement process does not fall under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 or Procurement Act 2023. The process pertains to the provision of an additional modular MRI scanner at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, classified under Medical imaging services, with a procurement method of direct award via Crown Commercial Services framework. The awarded contract, worth GBP 227,930, involves delivering a staffed modular MRI scanner for 12 weeks starting January 2026. The procurement aims to augment the current imaging capacity, assisting the health board in adhering to national and local waiting time targets. Representations from providers are due by 7th January 2025, marking the end of the standstill period. The contract is awarded to Radiology Management Solutions Limited as of 23rd May 2025.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in medical imaging services. Companies with expertise in managing and providing high-tech medical equipment, such as MRI scanners, are particularly well-suited to compete. Those offering robust collaboration capabilities and a focus on quality, sustainability, and social responsibility stand to benefit. The procurement highlights the need for adept staffing solutions and management to ensure service compliance and high-quality patient care, making it attractive for large-scale or specialised medical equipment providers. Additionally, businesses capable of reducing health inequities in the UK regions, namely UKL11, UKL12, UKL13, and UKL23, could leverage this opportunity to enhance their presence and contribute to healthcare improvement efforts.
