## Summary

The Marine Management Organisation (MMO), part of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), has completed the procurement process for enabling services related to a type approved Inshore Vessel Monitoring System (I-VMS) device. The contract, titled "MMO enabling services contract for a type approved Inshore Vessel Monitoring System (I-VMS) device," focuses on the marine survey services industry category. The procurement, carried out through direct award, recognises CLS UK Ltd as the sole supplier capable of providing the required proprietary support services for the Nemo device, due to technical uniqueness and compatibility issues. The contract starts on 19th January 2026 and lasts until 18th February 2027, with a potential extension until February 2029. The buyer's operations are centrally conducted in London, United Kingdom.

This tender represents an opportunity for businesses specialising in marine survey services, particularly those equipped to deliver proprietary support for the Nemo I-VMS device. The procurement method underscores the significance of possessing unique technical capabilities and proprietary technology, suggesting an advantageous scenario for businesses that have invested in niche marine technologies. The contract, valued at £411,000 before potential options, allows for extensions, offering sustained business growth for CLS UK Ltd and similar enterprises aligned with technological innovation in marine monitoring systems. Smaller SMEs with the capability to leverage proprietary instrumentations in marine services might find beneficial collaborations through similar exclusive procurement opportunities.
