## Summary

The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) has completed the award phase of its procurement process for "Safety Case Peer Review Services," an initiative aimed at providing safety case engineering support to fusion research facilities. This contract, awarded to Arcadis Consulting (UK) Limited, facilitates service delivery within the industry category of safety consultancy services. The procurement was conducted via an open procedure, with significant interest from potential suppliers, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as evident from the twenty final-stage bids, twelve of which were from SMEs. The contract, based in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, is set to commence on 1st June 2026, with a duration of three years and an optional one-year extension, ensuring the UK's fusion research facilities maintain high safety standards.

This tender presents considerable opportunities for consultancy firms specialising in safety assessments and compliance within the energy sector, particularly those adept in handling radiological and non-radiological hazards. Engaging with this contract allows businesses to collaborate with a central government public authority, enhancing their portfolio of government projects. Established large-scale providers like Arcadis, alongside SMEs with relevant expertise, are well-suited to benefit from such engagements. Moreover, companies entering this domain can leverage further growth opportunities through the potential extension and renewal enshrined within the procurement terms.
