## Summary

The Ministry of Defence (MOD), based in Bristol, United Kingdom, has concluded a procurement process for the "In Service Support of Air Particle Detectors" under the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation. The contract, which focuses on electronic and electrical spare parts for military vehicles, was awarded to Spectral Laboratories Incorporated from San Diego, United States. This process falls under the category of goods and has been finalised with a 5-year contract, including a potential extension of five optional years. The procurement was conducted through a limited procurement method due to specific technical requirements, bypassing the prior publication of a call for competition. The contract, valued at GBP 2,177,123.57, was legally signed on 1st November 2025 and is currently active.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities specifically for companies specialising in highly technical and custom manufacturing, particularly those with experience in military or defence-related equipment. Companies that possess bespoke technical capabilities and can comply with stringent UK safety regulations would have been well-suited to compete if the competition had been open. The invitation to engage in such a specialised contract with the MOD could enhance a company's reputation within the defence sector, leading to further opportunities in both public and private sectors. The specific procurement method used, although restrictive, underscores the MOD's commitment to ensuring the highest levels of technical precision and operational capability.
