## Summary

The procurement process for a "Disaster Recovery & Back Up as a Service" solution has been completed by Midland Heart Limited, a sub-central government public authority based in Birmingham, UK. The contract, awarded directly due to the urgent requirement for business continuity solutions, ensures resilience against system failures, cyberattacks, and natural disasters. The direct award was made to EKCO Cloud and Security Limited, with a contract period commencing on 16th January 2026 and potentially extending up to 9th January 2028, including two optional 12-month extensions. This procurement falls under the services industry category and is geographically targeted towards the UK region.

This contract presents growth opportunities for businesses specialising in cloud solutions, data protection, and disaster recovery services. Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in IT infrastructure and service continuity, like EKCO Cloud and Security Limited, are well-suited to compete in this sector. The procurement method highlights a direct award resulting from limited initial tender responses, suggesting a potential market for innovative and competitive service providers that can meet the timely needs of public sector entities. Businesses capable of providing comprehensive DRaaS solutions will find this procurement exemplar indicative of future opportunities in public sector IT resilience and security contracts.
