## Summary

The procurement process initiated by the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust involves the establishment of a National Framework Agreement for the Provision of Track and Traceability Systems, aimed at enhancing NHS Organisations' decontamination tracking and traceability management. The buyer, a central government public authority, is located in Chester, United Kingdom. This contract is categorised under the surgical tracking and tracing systems industry, with delivery regions extending to Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, and the United Kingdom. Although the tender had earlier stages of planning and an active tender stage, it has recently been cancelled as of 27th February 2026 with prior tender initiation dated 17th February 2026. Key milestone dates included a deadline for tender submissions on 19th March 2026 and an initial contract period from 1st May 2026 to 30th April 2028. The procurement method employed was an open procedure, with the opportunity yielding a substantial contract value estimate of £19,000,000.

This procurement opportunity, although now cancelled, represented a significant potential for businesses specialising in surgical instrumentation, decontamination systems, and associated hardware and service provision. The framework's scope included both full system implementations and ongoing operational support, making it suitable for SMEs and larger enterprises. Companies with expertise in medical technology, particularly those involved in sterilisation and high-level disinfection processing and tracking systems, could have capitalised on this tender. The framework allowed for the participation of various authorities, ensuring widespread applicability and demand, thereby providing significant market opportunities and business growth potential for participating suppliers.

## Notice

The objective of this framework is to provide NHS Organisations with decontamination tracking and traceability management systems, along with consumables and support services. Suppliers can also supply all associated hardware and consumables, if required. A decontamination tracking and traceability management system is used by hospitals during the decontamination, high-level disinfection, and sterilisation of instruments, endoscopes, and flexi scopes. The system supports the seamless decontamination, sterilisation, tracking, and tracing of all instruments, endoscopes, or devices through the decontamination facility and process, ensuring they are safely returned for use, and where required, may provide theatre management functionality to support instrument allocation, scheduling and device to patient associations.
