The procurement method used was direct, without competition, in alignment with sub-central government procurement requirements. The contract commenced on 1st April 2026 and is slated to end on 31st March 2028, with a possibility of a one-year extension. It involves a gross contract value of £162,000, and activities will take place in the UKC22 region, covering South Shields and its surroundings. The tender stage is complete, having moved through to the contract award and activation stages on 23rd January 2026.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in artistic services and community engagement projects. Companies with experience in organising parades, workshops, and creative sessions are well-positioned to contribute. The goal is to create a visually spectacular parade with themes focusing on sustainability and heritage, which provides a platform for businesses involved in costume design, performing arts, and community coordination. Such engagement can enhance brand visibility and demonstrate expertise in public sector collaborations, potentially opening doors to further opportunities with local councils and arts organisations.
