## Summary

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), a central government public authority in the UK, is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process aimed at expanding its plasmapheresis capacity. This initiative relates to the acquisition of systems to collect plasma for medicinal purposes. Located in Bristol, NHSBT is engaging with suppliers to gather insights for shaping future procurement strategies. The preliminary market engagement notice was published on 29th January 2026, with supplier engagement sessions scheduled for early March 2026. The procurement falls under the services category and holds an estimated gross value of £42 million. The procurement process is above threshold and involves plans to utilise a range of commercial models. The anticipated start date for the contract is 1st March 2027, running potentially until February 2034.

This tender presents substantial business growth opportunities, particularly for companies specialising in medical equipment, plasmapheresis technology, and related services. NHSBT is exploring various commercial models, such as direct purchase of equipment, managed service agreements, and vendor-managed services, providing a versatile space for suppliers to position their offerings. Businesses with expertise in technical support, maintenance, and service continuity for medical systems would find this tender particularly relevant. SMEs with innovative solutions for supply chain resilience and operational flexibility will also benefit from engaging in this procurement process, potentially influencing NHSBT's strategy through feedback and insights.
