## Summary

NHS England is currently in the planning stage for a procurement process concerning NHS Urgent & Emergency Care (UEC) Managed Telephony Services. This initiative involves preliminary market engagement to explore potential service delivery and commercial models for the NHS 111, 119, and 999 managed telephony infrastructure across England. The industry falls under telecommunications services, encompassing telecommunications network, communications infrastructure, and related areas. The planning process includes a market engagement session scheduled for 14th May 2026 in London, with interest submissions due by 10th March 2026. This stage will gather insights to inform future procurement expected to commence in 2027/28, aiming for contract implementation from 2029 to 2033. NHS England is tasked with the procurement, having planned multiple sessions to engage potential suppliers.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in telecommunication services, particularly those with capabilities in hosting, intelligent call routing, and cloud services for contact centres. Companies adept in innovations like Natural Language Processing and video consultation services will also find this a suitable opportunity. Participation in the market engagement is voluntary and non-binding, allowing businesses to influence the direction of future procurements without commitment. Such engagement allows suppliers to understand the needs of a prominent public authority and align their offerings with impending requirements. Organisations interested in expanding their footprint in the public health sector and robust telephony infrastructure will benefit greatly from participating in this process.
