## Summary

Cambridge City Council is facilitating the procurement process titled "Pool & Rain Water Recovery System" under the Water Scarcity Project backed by grant funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. This project involves installing Pwlltech's innovative pool water recovery system at Parkside, Abbey, and King's Hedges pools, with Parkside additionally featuring a rainwater harvesting system aimed at maximising water efficiency. The procurement is in the award stage, with Sterling Hydrotech Limited, a supplier from London, contracted to provide the necessary equipment. Valued at £508,224, this direct award procurement falls under the category of goods for swimming pools, with the contract period scheduled from 2nd March 2026 to 1st August 2026, covering deliveries to Cambridge, United Kingdom.

This procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in water recovery systems and sustainable practices within the swimming pool industry, particularly those capable of catering to technical and niche requirements. Companies with expertise in rainwater harvesting technologies can leverage this high-value contract to demonstrate their innovative capabilities and expand their market presence in the UK, partnering with public authorities like the Cambridge City Council. The focus on sustainability and efficiency in this tender also encourages growth for small and medium enterprises that aim to collaborate on high-impact environmental projects.

## Notice

Cambridge City Council (CCC) want to install (not maintain) Pwlltech's pool water recovery system, and other components necessary to support their installation, at Parkside, Abbey and King's Hedges pools. At Parkside, the supplier will also provide rainwater harvesting which would be filtered and then routed through the pool water recovery system in place of mains water to reduce the mains water used. This is for the Water Scarcity Project driven by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), who are providing grant funding for the whole project value. This installation will save up to 90% of the pool water normally discarded to drain and save the energy used to heat replacement mains water.

### Procurement Information

There is no known equivalent pool water recovery system on the market and Sterling Hydrotech have a contract for supply from the manufacturer.
