## Summary

The Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) has awarded a direct contract to The Wye & Usk Foundation for the Water Roadmap Project in the Wye and Usk catchments. This initiative, strategically important for UK food sourcing and ecological conservation, involves improving water stewardship due to recent ecological declines in these areas. Operating under the procurement stage of 'Award,' this project commenced its contract period on 1 April 2026 and is scheduled to conclude on 31 March 2027, with the official contract expected to be signed by 13 March 2026. WRAP, based in Banbury, United Kingdom, is the contracting authority, providing project continuity with a twelve-month direct award contract. The procurement process, governed by a direct award method, aims to secure long-term ecological impact and stability for its partners.

This procurement provides substantial opportunities for businesses involved in environmental consultancy services, especially those that focus on ecological conservation and water management strategies. The direct involvement of The Wye & Usk Foundation highlights the demand for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can deliver focused expertise and build collaborative relationships over extended periods. The project's emphasis on ecological preservation in designated conservation areas offers chances for consultancies specialising in environmental issues to develop innovative solutions and influence substantial policy and landscape changes. As such, businesses adept at addressing diffuse agricultural pollution and enhancing water stewardship would be well-suited to collaborate in these kinds of initiatives, fostering growth through specialised skill application.

## Notice

WRAP would like to provide the Wye & Usk Foundation a direct award contract to continue as our delivery partner for the Water Roadmap collective action project in the Wye and Usk catchments. Whilst longer term agreements with our delivery partners are required to provide them the stability to deliver impact over time, the approach of offering WRAP's delivery partners a 12 month direct award contract has been agreed, this provides project continuity in the shorter term during which a longer-term procurement solution is confirmed.

### Procurement Information

WRAP are providing the Wye & Usk foundation a 12 month direct award contract to continue as our delivery partner for the Water Roadmap collective action project in the Wye and Usk catchments. As well as being strategically important food sourcing areas for the UK supply chain as a whole and many of WRAP's food business stakeholders, they are also well loved and ecologically important, with areas designated as 'Special Areas of Conservation' and 'Sites of Special Scientific Interest'. Notwithstanding, the catchments have experienced recent ecological decline as a result of diffuse pollution from agriculture. Consequently, the catchments are a high priority for WRAP and our stakeholders to improve water stewardship under the Water Roadmap. Improving water stewardship is a long term endeavour recognised by WRAP and our business funders who make a 3-year financial commitment to each of the collective action projects. The stability this provides enables WRAP's delivery partners to build relationships, develop and implement solutions and maintain the expertise required to tackle significant challenges requiring the collaboration of hundreds, if not thousands of stakeholders.
