## Summary

The Welsh Government, acting as the buyer, is in the planning stage for the "Baglan Contamination Remediation Works" procurement process. This initiative falls under the works category within the construction industry and focuses on remediation at the Baglan Bay site in South Wales. The objective is to transform the area, which was formerly used as a chemical site, into a safe environment, contributing to regional redevelopment. An online presentation and site visit are scheduled for March and April 2026, providing opportunities for potential suppliers to engage with the project ahead of the formal tender process commencing in the latter part of 2026. Implemented under the Competitive Flexible Procedure of the Procurement Act 2023, contractors will be tasked with various responsibilities from design to implementation and validation of remediation techniques.

This procurement opportunity offers promising avenues for business growth, particularly for companies specialising in construction and environmental remediation. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) positively match the suitability criteria, allowing wide participation in the competitive process. With an estimated gross contract value of £120 million GBP, businesses capable of delivering quality remediation solutions stand to benefit significantly from engaging with this project. The Welsh Government is committed to ensuring fair market engagement, providing two key interaction opportunities for companies through site visits and online presentations. These sessions aim to arm potential bidders with essential insights, fostering well-informed competition and mitigating the risk of unfair advantage.
