## Summary

Lyndon Green Junior & Infant Schools is seeking to appoint a supplier for their catering services through a competitive tendering process. Located in Birmingham, this procurement process falls under the 'services' industry category, and marks the first external tender for what has been an in-house provision. The tender stage is currently active, with the applicable period ending on 24th July 2026 and the award expected by 5th October 2026. The successful bidder will commence the contract on 1st January 2027, covering services such as morning breaks, lunches, and hospitality at a value of approximately £862,500 GBP. The school's governing body is open to renewing the contract and expanding services, subject to a viable business case. The tender uses an open competitive procedure, and proposals are evaluated based on quality and price criteria, with a special emphasis on innovative and healthy food services incorporating fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specializing in school catering services to expand their operations, particularly those capable of delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions. Small and medium enterprises are encouraged to participate, and businesses offering a blend of creativity and high-quality service stand to benefit, especially those experienced in or looking to expand into the educational sector. The kitchen facilities may be utilised beyond the two schools, serving as a hub for neighbouring institutions, making it ideal for businesses with logistics capabilities and flexible operation models. This procurement also aligns with the school's core values fostering creativity and adventure, creating potential for providers skilled in crafting engaging and memorable learning experiences around nutrition and meal times.

## Notice

The successful Supplier will be required to provide Catering services for Lyndon Green Junior School and Lyndon Green Infant School. The two Schools share the same kitchen, which currently has an in-house catering provision, this being the first time that the contract has been put to competitive tender. The kitchen is large and whilst it currently only services the onsite Schools, in previous years it has been the hub kitchen for a delivered meal service for up to three other local Schools. The governing body would, in principle, consider the re-establishment of the kitchen as a hub for a delivered meal service to other Schools, subject to an appropriate business case being made. Lyndon Green Junior School: We have amazing children, supportive parents and a dedicated team, who strive to provide a curriculum that is vibrant and creative, making memories that will last forever. Lyndon Green has a Forest School. A forest school is an educational model where children learn through hands-on, child-led play and exploration in a natural environment, such as a woodland. It is a long-term, holistic approach that emphasizes the development of self-esteem, confidence, and problem-solving skills through supported risk-taking in a regular, sustained contact with the outdoors. This is different from one-off nature trips, as it is a process-based philosophy that happens over an extended period. Our school values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment which prepares our pupils. Our five dispositions: perseverance, positivity, creativity, being adventurous and hard working underpin all aspects of school life. As of October 2025, we have 367 pupils between the ages of seven and eleven on roll , many of whom are entitled to Free School Meals. The value of the current catering contract is circa PS172,500. The Client expects the successful Supplier to enable the continued development of catering through the provision of an innovative, healthy food service, with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients being prepared. The contract covers the scope for the provision of catering services, which currently includes both morning break and lunch at margin, all hospitality and free issue requirements as at net cost.
