## Summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in collaboration with the East of England NHS Collaborative Hub c/o West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, is in the planning stage of a tender process titled "Patient Welfare and Signposting Support Bedside Services for Major Trauma and Vulnerable, Critically Ill Patients". It aims to commission services to provide integrated non-clinical support within its Major Trauma Centre located in Cambridge, UK (postcode CB2 0QQ). The procurement process is set to advance under the Procurement Act 2023, with preliminary market engagement currently open until 10th April 2026. The anticipated service operation start date is 1st October 2026, with provisions for renewal extending until 2030.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in legal, advisory, or representation services, particularly those capable of providing bedside support in hospital settings. Ideal competitors include small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) equipped to address complex psychological, social, financial, and legal needs within critical care environments. Companies with expertise in handling multidisciplinary challenges for major trauma patients, including both adults and children, may find this contract particularly suited to their capabilities, potentially enhancing their growth by integrating non-clinical services within healthcare institutions.

## Notice

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUHFT) is a designated Major Trauma Centre (MTC) within a large regional trauma network. The MTC provides care for over 2,000 major trauma patients per year, serving a diverse population across a wide geographic region. Patients often present with complex injuries and require multidisciplinary care, including support for psychological, social, financial, and legal challenges that fall outside routine NHS clinical provision. To meet these needs, CUHFT seeks to commission a comprehensive Patient Welfare and Signposting Support Service to provide integrated non-clinical support to major trauma and critically ill patients, including children and adults. This service will operate a "bedside" service within critical care and ward environments. Support will be provided to adult and paediatric patients, and to their families or carers.
