## Summary

NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (BNSSG ICB) is responsible for commissioning the Discharge to Assess Community Beds, a service aimed at supporting patients’ transition from hospital to home by providing residential nursing care services. This procurement, managed by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit, has been conducted under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Direct Award Process C, exempting it from Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The service, to be delivered at Crossley House in South Gloucestershire by Ablecare Homes, commences on 1st April 2026 for an 18-month period, with the option to extend for an additional 12 months. The overall value of the contract, excluding VAT, is £513,890.16.

This contract offers significant opportunities for businesses in the health and residential care sector, particularly for those capable of providing bed-based care and intensive rehabilitation services. As the service is structured to optimise patient independence and reduce long-term reliance on residential care, businesses specialising in quality nursing services, innovative care solutions, and effective integration into local health frameworks will find this contract aligns well with their expertise and objectives. Given the contract's location and focus, small to medium-sized enterprises within Bristol and South Gloucestershire could particularly benefit by leveraging regional familiarity and existing local partnerships.

## Notice

These beds will be delivered at Crossley House, South Gloucestershire operated by Ablecare Homes. BNSSG ICB has implemented a Discharge to Assess model following hospital admission, in collaboration with ICS partners. The vision of the model is to maximise independence, de-escalate care as early as possible, and prevent de-compensation. Over time this is expected to increase the number of people managing independently or with appropriate support at home and reduce reliance on bed-based care in both the short and long term. BNSSG ICB has followed PSR Direct Award Process C for the contract to which this notice relates. The service is VAT-exempt, and all contract values stated are excluding VAT This procurement has been carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioner
