## Summary

Transport for Wales Rail Limited has awarded a contract to Silver Rail for the "Integrated Digital Platform for Rail Retail (WebTIS) & Bus Journey Planning". This procurement process falls under the services category and adheres to Welsh devolved regulations. The contract, valued at a gross amount of £4,943,624.40, aims to integrate existing digital retail and ticketing services with future functionality required for the UNO platform. Located in Pontypridd, United Kingdom, and currently at the award stage, the contract is set to commence on 26th May 2026, with an option for extension, potentially lasting until 26th May 2030. The direct procurement method was chosen due to Silver Rail's existing involvement with Transport for Wales Rail's digital services, which necessitates alignment with other third-party engagements by 23rd June 2029.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses specialising in point of sale software development and industry-specific software, particularly those with capabilities to develop and integrate platform solutions for digital retail and journey planning. Companies that are experienced in collaborating with large-scale utility buyers and can navigate Welsh devolved regulations would be well-positioned to take advantage of this contract. Moreover, firms with strategic partnerships or prior work with Transport for Wales Rail Limited and entities like Hitachi will find considerable growth potential, given the emphasis on technical collaboration and continuity in service delivery.

## Notice

SilverRail currently provides SilverCore for digital retail and ticketing, with Braintree as the payment service provider and SilverAgent for customer aftersales care for the TfW Rail web and app. They also supply a bus journey planning engine for the Traveline Cymru website and app. Both services will need to be integrated into UNO at a later stage. This contract therefore consolidates the two existing services and incorporates the future additional functionality required for UNO

### Procurement Information

SilverRail is already the provider for our existing TfW Rail web and app, as well as Traveline Cymru, which influences our partnerships with other third parties. Imaginet currently delivers the front end for the TFW Rail web and app, while Spindogs provides the front end for Traveline Cymru. Hitachi, the primary supplier of the UNO back end, has entered a contract with SilverRail to purchase their journey planning engine, which is essential for UNO. To successfully deliver UNO, the contract term must align with Hitachi's end date of 23/06/2029.
