## Summary

The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust has issued a contract modification notice for the Medisight Ophthalmology system, aimed at aligning two merged acute trusts—Yeovil Hospital and Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, UK. This modification falls under the category of IT software packages and adheres to Regulation 72 of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (PCR 2015). The process, which has moved to the award stage as of 16 March 2026, does not constitute a new contract but rather a variation of an existing contract. This procurement falls outside the typical directive scope due to its nature, with no substantial modification impacting the original contract. Key dates include the contract being signed on 24 February 2026, and the process was conducted through a limited procurement method without a prior call for competition.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses operating in the field of IT software, particularly those specialising in healthcare systems. Given its nature—a modification notice to align healthcare trusts—companies with expertise in systems integration and healthcare IT solutions may find this particularly relevant. Medisoft Limited, an SME already involved, indicates a favourable environment for small and medium-sized enterprises. Businesses looking to expand their presence in the healthcare sector, especially those with existing operations or relationships in the UK, can leverage partnerships and bolster their growth by engaging with similar opportunities in public procurement processes.
