## Summary

The Environment Agency in London has awarded the "AIMS Phase 2" contract, aimed at enhancing asset management across the lifecycle, with a focus on spatial grouping of assets. The tender falls under the industry category of project management consultancy services. The contract period starts on 1 April 2026 and ends on 31 March 2027, aligning with the AIMS AMP implementation plan. The contracting process adopted was direct procurement below the threshold, without competition, reflecting the technical specificity required by the project. Key dates include the contract signing on 18 March 2026, with the supplier being APM GEO Limited, a large enterprise based in Eastleigh.

This procurement presents opportunities for businesses adept in digital mapping and asset management consultancy. Companies with expertise in innovative digital tools like Maploom for spatial asset grouping and strong configuration knowledge can leverage similar contracts in the future. While APM GEO Limited is the current supplier, SMEs and VCS enterprises can prepare to participate in similar tenders by fostering partnerships or investing in technology and methodologies matching the project specifications. The need for robust technical capability and bespoke tools strengthens the demand for businesses specialising in comprehensive asset data solutions.

## Notice

We need to strengthen and improve grouping asset data across the asset management lifecycle, with a particular focus on how assets are grouped spatially. The AIMS AMP Project has produced draft FCRM Asset Management Plans (AMP) units nationally. Further work is required to secure final sign-off of these units from Area Teams. The AIMS AMP Project has been using Maploom - an on-line mapping platform that provides innovative digital mapping tools. The current contract is due to end 31 March 2026. However, the project needs to move into new contract so that Maploom's online services can continue and user access can be provided to support the Area wide consultation of review. This work is necessary to ensure all final AMP units can be uploaded and completed by March 2027, prior to AMP Phase 3. It will also align with Project Aurora's implementation plan for AIMS AMP.
