## Summary

The NHS North East & North Cumbria Integrated Care Board is progressing through the planning and tender stages of its procurement process for the provision of acute respiratory infection services in response to winter pressures. This process is organised under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, specifically the Most Suitable Provider (MSP) process. The procurement focuses on three lots: Hartlepool and Stockton, Middlesborough & Redcar and Cleveland, and Darlington. Providers must express interest by 11:59:59 PM on 1 April 2026 and can submit responses electronically via the Atamis portal. Services are scheduled to commence on 1 August 2026, with contracts lasting for two years and the potential for extension. The procurement falls under the miscellaneous health services category.

This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those capable of providing respiratory care and dealing with seasonal health pressures. Well-suited businesses are those with existing premises in the specified regions (Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesborough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Darlington) and the ability to meet quality criteria such as service-specific requirements, innovation, social value, and economic evaluation as per the PSR 2023 Key Criteria. Competitive bids should focus on integration and collaboration, improving access, and reducing health inequalities. The restricted procurement procedure favours providers who fulfil suitability and financial criteria, presenting an attractive proposition for entities willing to collaborate closely with the NHS to offer responsive, high-quality health services in the North East region.
