## Summary

Durham County Council has concluded the procurement process for the 'Supplementary Substance Misuse Treatment and Recovery Services' with the contract being awarded to Waythrough. The contract, valued at £12,000,000, covers the period from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2029 and falls under the category of community health services. This process was facilitated through the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) as per the Health Care Services Regulations 2023, outside the typical Public Contracts Regulations framework. The services are intended to integrate with the County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service and are aimed at enhancing substance misuse treatment and recovery services in the region of County Durham (UKC14).

This contract offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in health and community services, particularly those with expertise in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and recovery. The integration focus within County Durham's established health initiative signifies a demand for organisations capable of delivering seamless, supportive services without fragmentation. Businesses with established histories in providing quality health services, registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), or those experienced in collaborating with public health grants and local authorities would find themselves particularly well-suited to contributing to this initiative. The contract’s objective of sustaining service continuity and quality over a three-year period ensures steady engagement for the selected provider.
