## Summary

North Somerset Council has awarded contracts for Primary Care Pharmacy Services under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR), which are part of the Health Care Services Regulations 2023. Spanning the community health services category, the procurement process employed is a limited method with no prior publication of a call for competition. This re-procurement aims at servicing North Somerset, including areas like Weston-super-Mare, with contracts starting on 1st April 2026 and running for five years, with a two-year extension option. Given the awards, pharmacies in North Somerset have been selected, with an estimated annual contract value ranging from £167,827 to £168,105 across different years.

These contract awards open significant opportunities for pharmacy service providers aiming to grow their presence in North Somerset especially with services like smoking cessation support, opiate supervision, and needle exchange programmes. Whilst current service providers have the opportunity to re-establish contracts, pharmacies looking to enter the area can express interest via North Somerset Council’s website, indicating a favourable environment for new market entrants and established providers seeking expansion. Ideal candidates include medium-sized enterprises well-positioned within community health services, thus enabling them to cater to local service demands efficiently.
