## Summary

Aston University, located in Birmingham, UK, has completed the procurement process for the supply and installation of a Fluorescence-detected Taylor Dispersion Analyser. This procurement falls under the industry category of laboratory, optical, and precision equipment and was conducted through a direct award method, with the final award dated 24th April 2026. The contract, valued at approximately £245,403, spans from 1st May 2026 to 30th April 2029. The procurement process was initiated due to unique technical capabilities offered by the Fida Neo system, essential for the University's biomolecular interaction analyses.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth in the laboratory and precision equipment sector, particularly benefiting suppliers with specialised instruments and technology in fluorescence-based system analysis. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) like FIDA Biosystems ApS, which possess proprietary technology for complex matrices analysis, are well-positioned to compete in this sector. This contract facilitates a collaborative atmosphere for innovation-driven businesses to showcase unique technical competences and establish long-term partnerships with leading academic institutions.

## Notice

Supply and installation of the following equipment, along with associated services: * Fida Neo System UV * Fida Neo 480 Detector * Kinetics Software Module * Installation, training and freight * Two-year Full Coverage Service Agreement The system is a fluorescence-based capillary flow instrument for accurate quantification of particle size (hydrodynamic radius), fluorescence intensity and fluorescence ratiometric emission monitoring.

### Procurement Information

The FidaNeo system provides capability for analysing biomolecular interactions directly in solution using proprietary FIDA technology, enabling measurement of binding affinity and molecular size changes in complex matrices such as serum or lipid nanodisc systems. No instruments other than the Fida Neo could be identified that are capable of making the required measurements. No other instrument researched was capable of measuring the sub-nanometer size changes associated with protein conformational change (e.g. upon a drug binding to its target protein), nor did any other instrument researched provide the complementary readouts of fluorescence intensity required for quantifying particle concentration, quantifying fluorescent labelling efficiency, and measuring fluorescence quenching) and fluorescence ratiometric emission monitoring (required for measuring protein-drug binding).
