## Summary

The Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has recently updated the procurement process for the "Memory Assessment Service (Dementia Support)" under a direct award procedure. The service is classified under community health services and focuses on providing memory assessment, diagnosis, and treatment support, particularly in the initial stages. The updated contract was formally awarded on 8 April 2026, covering the period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, with a contract value of £138,339. This procurement falls under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR), and the announcement emphasizes the service's ongoing commitment to reducing memory assessment waiting times at Wirral Place, which have significantly decreased since 2021.

This tender provides substantial growth opportunities for businesses specialising in community health services, particularly those that can offer innovative solutions to enhance memory assessment and dementia support. Businesses with established links to community services and a strong governance framework would be well-suited to compete. The service benefits from a collaborative approach, directly impacting the reduction of inpatient bed usage and allowing patients to maintain functional skills in their places of residence. Additionally, suppliers offering crisis intervention support, specialist assessments, and a seamless integration with other care services could find opportunities to expand their reach and enhance service provision standards in a critical health area.
