## Summary

Westmorland and Furness Council is actively engaged in the procurement of an Integrated Sexual Health Service designed to offer comprehensive health services within the UKD12 region. This service is structured to encompass Level 1, 2, and 3 services, enhancing existing provisions from General Practice and Community Pharmacy providers. With the period of service implementation set to commence on the 25th of March, 2026, this contract highlights key priorities, including improved accessibility for at-risk groups and advancements in STI screening. The procurement is currently in the contract update stage and is governed by legal mandates under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and emphasised by recent modifications under the Provider Selection Regime 2023.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for organisations within the health services industry seeking to engage with public sector contracts. Given the focus on sexual health services, businesses specialising in healthcare provision, consultancy, or medical supplies will find avenues for growth by collaborating with the Westmorland and Furness Council. The initiative targets not only a breadth of services but also clinical leadership and education, which can foster workforce expertise and innovative practices. Companies that can deliver high-quality, accessible health services, particularly to recognised at-risk demographics, are encouraged to participate, with North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust already playing a role as an active supplier in this expansive service offering.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Following implementation of the Health and Social Care Act 2012, the Council assumed responsibility for a range of Public Health functions including a legal mandate to provide access to a range of sexual health and contraceptive services including:- * Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) services enabling open access to testing and treatment for HIV and other STIs. * Sexual and Reproductive Health Services providing information and access to a full range of contraceptive methods. The Council procured an Integrated Sexual Health Service providing Level 1, 2 and 3 services to complement existing Level 1 and 2 services commissioned from General Practice and Community Pharmacy providers. Key priorities of the Integrated Sexual Health Service are:- * Accessible integrated provision to ensure that the majority of sexual health and contraception needs can be met within a single consultation. * Improved information about sexual health and sexual health services in order to raise awareness, promote self-management and support appropriate referral and signposting. * Targeted activity to improve accessibility and engagement for at risk groups, including young people, black and minority ethnic groups (BME), and men who have sex with men (MSM). * Improved Chlamydia screening and STI testing to reduce late diagnosis, particularly HIV. * Provision of clinical leadership to General Practices and Community Pharmacies commissioned by the Council to provide level 1 and 2 sexual health services in the county. * Development of educational and research opportunities to increase workforce expertise, support staff retention and build sexual health capacity in the local NHS and partner organisations
