## Summary

The West Midlands Combined Authority has completed the contracting process for the "Iterative Design for Kids Streets Interventions" project under the services industry category, focusing on transport services excluding waste transport. This initiative is part of Mayor Richard Parker's "Journeys for Everyone" vision and aims to develop highway changes supporting the Kids Streets programme. The contract was awarded using a limited procurement method, without prior publication due to technical reasons, with Phil Jones Associates (PJA) selected for their unmatched expertise in child-centred street design. The procurement phase has reached completion, and the contract was signed on 24th March 2026, covering regions from UKC to UKK.

This tender presents a growth opportunity for businesses specialising in transport and urban development, particularly those with expertise in safety and accessibility interventions. PJA's involvement underscores the demand for companies possessing specialised knowledge in street design and policy development. SMEs with innovative approaches to transport services, including road and railway solutions, stand to benefit from collaborations on similar projects in the region. As the West Midlands Combined Authority prioritises strategic programmes like Kids Streets, securing such contracts can bolster a business's portfolio, enhancing reputation and opening doors to future procurement opportunities across regional and local authorities.
