## Summary

Medway Council, located in Chatham, UK, is in the planning stages of their Highways Infrastructure Contract (HIC) procurement process, slated for a successor agreement to begin from August 2027. The process, focusing on the works category, is characterized by the maintenance and management of an expansive network of highways and associated assets valued at £2 billion. This includes the Medway Tunnel, due to its complexity and significance. An essential preliminary market engagement workshop is scheduled for the week commencing 13th April 2026, with a due date for questionnaire submissions on 29th May 2026. Interested parties should contact Nigel Ford at Medway Council for details regarding registration and participation.

This procurement process offers substantial opportunities for businesses within the construction and civil engineering sectors, as well as those providing maintenance and related services. The anticipated Competitive Flexible Procedure suggests a broad scope for innovative solutions and collaboration, making it ideally suited for businesses with robust experience in managing complex infrastructure projects and a strategic focus on sustainability and digital technology. The term maintenance contract currently managed by Volker Highways underscores the potential for expanding business portfolios through long-term partnerships with public authorities like Medway Council. Interested companies can leverage this tender to showcase their capabilities in delivering high-impact infrastructure solutions and growing their business footprint in the public sector.
