## Summary

The NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board is conducting a procurement process for community urgent eye care services in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull. This tender, classified under the optician services category, is aimed at providing timely access to eye care within the community for various urgent and minor eye conditions. The procurement is currently in the Award stage, following a tender update, with the contract set to be formally awarded from 15th April 2026 to 31st March 2028, with an option to extend to 31st March 2029. This direct award process falls under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR), which exempts it from the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, and involves local optometry practices supported by prescribing optometrists.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for local optometry practices, particularly those capable of providing specialised care for urgent eye conditions. Businesses that are already established within the health care services sector, particularly those with experience in optician services, may find this contract aligns with their operational strengths. The procurement approach, focusing on integration and collaboration in delivering patient-centred care, rewards businesses that value quality, innovation, and social impact. The emphasis on reducing health inequalities presents an ideal opportunity for suppliers aiming to enhance patient access and contribute to local economic and social wellbeing, with the contract's value estimated at £1,240,800, offering substantial financial incentive.
