## Summary

Sheffield Hallam University is initiating a tender process to procure a Travel Management Service aimed at facilitating travel for both staff and students across various academic activities. The procurement falls under the services category and requires a Travel Management Company (TMC) to deliver end-to-end solutions, including flight bookings, accommodation, compliance with travel policies, and providing support for complex itineraries and emergency situations. The process is currently in the planning stage, with a Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) due by 15 April 2026, allowing suppliers to provide insights ahead of formal tendering. The contract, once awarded, will have a term from 1 September 2026 to 31 July 2030, with the potential for renewal. The geographic scope includes multiple regions across the United Kingdom, ensuring widespread applicability of the services.

This procurement represents a significant opportunity for travel agencies and companies specialising in travel management services. Developing innovative solutions that enhance booking experiences, ensure compliance, and deliver value for money could differentiate potential suppliers in a competitive market. Businesses experienced in handling academic and research travel, with the capability to negotiate competitive rates and provide robust support for traveller care obligations, are particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. Participation in the PME offers an opportunity for suppliers to influence the service design and requirements, potentially shaping the tender specifications to align with their strengths. By engaging early in this process and demonstrating expertise in travel management for educational institutions, companies can position themselves as key players in the tender competition.
