## Summary

The procurement process titled "SISJ - Lift Information Project" involves Train Information Services Limited, a public authority engaged in sub-central government activities, directly awarding a contract to Nexus Alpha Limited. The project aims to enhance lift status information accuracy and clarity across the rail network. Governed by the Procurement Act 2023, this direct award leverages Nexus Alpha's incumbent position, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and operational messaging. Located in London, the contract is awarded in the utilities special regime using a direct procurement method. Key dates include a milestone expected for signature on 16 April 2026, with the contract period running from 17 April 2026 to 16 April 2029, having renewal options extending up to 2034, inclusive of five single-year extensions.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses specializing in software maintenance and repair services, particularly those with capabilities to handle complex integrations into existing rail network systems. Given the direct award nature and incumbent advantages of Nexus Alpha, businesses with unique intellectual property rights, or those capable of providing technically unseparable extensions to existing services, may find scope for collaboration or seeking sub-contracting opportunities. SMEs may find relevance in the project's suitability, while the potential for annual extensions and modifications offers continuing business growth prospects amidst evolving industry needs.

### Procurement Information

This procurement meets the conditions under the Procurement Act 2023 for direct award of additional or repeat services: Nexus Alpha is the incumbent supplier of Tyrell, a mission-critical system forming the core of NRCC and TOC operational messaging. The Lifts functionality is an extension of, and technically inseparable from, the existing Tyrell services. A change in supplier would result in incompatibility with existing systems and disproportionate technical and operational difficulty. There are no reasonable alternatives capable of delivering the required functionality within the required timescale without material risk to national operational messaging. If an alternative supplier was selected through tender, business change would be required across the industry within the NRCC and the TOCs that use Tyrell, to adopt the new supplier. TOCs would need to abort their own contracts with NA and move to the new industry system
