## Summary

NHS Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board has awarded a contract under the Provider Selection Regime for the provision of "getUBetter", a digital self-management platform addressing common MSK injuries and conditions across the local healthcare system. This service falls under the health services industry category and covers multiple regions in the UK, specifically Bristol and surrounding areas. As per the contract signed on 8th May 2026, the agreement runs from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2028, with a possible extension contingent on future funding. The direct award procurement process was utilized, bypassing the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 due to the PSR directives, and the contract value is £206,692 excluding VAT.

The "getUBetter" project presents significant opportunities for businesses specializing in health technology and digital health services, especially those with innovative solutions for patient self-management and healthcare app development. Companies that excel in integrating digital health tools with existing care pathways, and those adept at collaborative service delivery, will find themselves in a strong position. This initiative underscores the demand for high-quality, innovative solutions that offer sustainable services while addressing health inequalities and promoting social value. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with proven agility and expertise in developing intuitive, evidence-based content for healthcare apps are particularly well-suited to engage with this contract.

## Notice

getUBetter's digital service is a self-management platform available across primary, secondary and community care in BNSSG, supporting patients with all common MSK injuries and conditions. Patients can be and are directed to the app at many points during their MSK management pathway e.g. when seen in primary care, attending MSKi service, whilst on waiting list to attend MSK physiotherapy (links provided in waiting well letters) and during/post physiotherapy intervention. getUBetter is co-designed with patients, clinicians, commissioners and research partners. They maintain a cycle of design, test, assess, modify and improve to make sure that content and flow is intuitive and helps people to self-manage their recovery and general health. getUBetter is a class 1 medical device and DTAC certified. It complies with NHS Clinical safety and information governance standards. The getUBetter content is based to the latest evidence and behaviour change techniques, and self-management pathways are signed off and approved by clinical teams. The platform is locally configured to an ICB MSK pathway and is regularly updated. The App is designed to be given as part of routine care and has multiple layers of risk management. It provides safe self-management but will advise patients to seek help if needed. getUBetter provides personalised support that is responsive to how a patient is feeling and targeted to their recovery journey and lived experience. It enables patients to choose the right pathway for themselves and provide them with choice on how to self-manage their condition in relation to their local circumstances and environment. getUBetter has been approved for funding for 2 years.
