## Summary

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is currently in the planning stages of a procurement process for a project titled "Services to support the National Rollout for establishing a waste management route for existing High Activity Sealed Sources (HASS) in the UK." This initiative falls under the services industry category with a particular focus on radioactive waste management, involving activities such as collection, storage, disposal, and transport. The procurement is slated to engage suppliers through an open procedure, and a key supplier engagement event is scheduled for 26th August 2026, conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams. The NDA, located in Cumbria, will host this session, providing suppliers with an overview of the project’s objectives and key requirements. Notable dates include a future notice date on 9th September 2026, and the contractual period is planned to commence on 1st December 2026, concluding on 30th November 2029, with the possibility of extension up to 30th November 2031.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in radioactive waste management and services supporting the end-to-end waste management solutions. Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and those with a framework agreement experience will find this project particularly viable given the scope including planning, site liaison, regulatory approvals, and the logistical arrangements of high-activity waste materials. With a substantial value of up to £27.6 million gross, this contract offers a promising avenue for growth, enhancing business portfolios through involvement in a critical national rollout operation. The open procurement method allows competitive companies with capabilities in secure and compliant waste processing and transport to become central contributors to this high-profile government project.
