## Summary

The procurement process led by the NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board focuses on the "AACC/CHC Fast-track Palliative End of Life Care Hospice Beds" project, categorised under health services, specifically in the provision of end-of-life care. The contract was awarded using a direct award process in accordance with the Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023, with no application of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 or the Procurement Act 2023. This five-year contract, commencing from 1st April 2026, will involve hospices across the UKJ2 region, aimed at providing personalised care to patients, while easing transitions between care settings. The award notice was confirmed on 15th April 2026, marking the commencement of services under this strategic healthcare initiative.

The procurement offers significant business growth potential for large-scale providers within the hospice and healthcare sector. Businesses such as St Barnabas House, Martlets Hospice, and others across Sussex are ideally positioned to benefit from collaborative opportunities and long-term contracts under the NHS Sussex alliance. With the emphasis on quality, innovation, and integration with community services, providers can enhance operational efficiencies, engage in strategic partnerships, and improve patient outcomes. Moreover, there's potential for firms active in areas like virtual health and community engagement, with room for innovations in patient care paths, staff training, and sector-wide sustainability initiatives, securing their role in the evolving healthcare landscape.
