## Summary

The public procurement process for the "Silo Liquor Ion Exchange Treatment Feasibility Study" is facilitated by Nuclear Restoration Services Limited, a sub-central government public authority based in Warrington, United Kingdom. This tender falls under the technical services industry category and is currently in the active tender stage. The procurement follows an open competition method and remains below the threshold for formal procurement policies. Key dates to note include the end of the enquiry period on 30th June 2026 and a submission deadline on 14th July 2026. The study aims to examine a modular liquor treatment process using Ion Exchange technology for the Dounreay Wet Silo, with an estimated contract value of £120,000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in technical services, particularly those experienced in modular treatment systems and environmental consultancy. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in waste management and process engineering are well-suited to compete, as the contract offers a platform to showcase innovative treatment solutions and establish a relationship with a public authority engaged in nuclear restoration projects. Additionally, the potential for contract renewal, depending on the Liquor Retrieval Date, provides further prospects for sustained collaboration and business growth.

## Notice

The Dounreay Wet Silo contains solids and sludges stored under water in a below ground vault, split into 2 hydraulically linked compartments. The volume of liquor is estimated to be between 150m3 - 200m3. NRS Dounreay is investigating an option to provide a modular liquor treatment capability using an Ion Exchange process. This notice provides advanced information for the procurement of a proposed Feasibility Study consisting of the following aspects: Provide consultation and support to Silo liquor sampling. Use analytical data to develop a suitable ion exchange treatment process. Perform (or direct) inactive and active liquor IX processing trials to underpin a 'modular' type treatment plant design. Produce a feasibility report recording the development and proposals for the treatment plant, including an outline concept of the plant.
