## Summary

The public procurement process for the "Active Travel Engagement Support Services" was conducted by the Tees Valley Combined Authority, a sub-central government public authority based in Darlington, UK. This contract falls under the services category and focuses on promoting active travel within the Tees Valley region. The procurement utilised an open procedure and concluded with the award of the contract on 3rd June 2026. The programme will commence on 1st August 2026 and run until 31st March 2027, with potential extensions totalling two additional years. The awarded contract is valued at £680,000, grossing £816,000, and the successful supplier is Middlesbrough Environment City, a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) located in Middlesbrough. The project will involve delivering services across Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, and Redcar & Cleveland.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in public relations, infrastructure development, and sustainable travel. Companies focusing on community engagement, capability building, and behaviour change initiatives are well-positioned to benefit from contracts of this nature. The project targets active travel and tourism routes, providing avenues for firms to demonstrate their expertise in promoting alternative transportation modes and increasing public participation. The open procedure allowed equal access for SMEs and Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises (VCSEs), making it particularly attractive for organisations committed to social value and community impact. Businesses with an established presence in service delivery within multiple local authorities and a robust volunteer management framework would find this contract particularly beneficial for growth and regional influence.
