## Summary

Peterborough City Council is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for specialist respite provision for adults aged 18 to 65, including learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and complex behaviours. The council, a sub-central government public authority, is engaging in a Preliminary Market Engagement (PME), with key dates including a due date for engagement responses by 18 May 2026 and an optional Microsoft Teams session on 5 May 2025 to clarify models and answer queries. This procurement falls under the services category with significant relevance to health and social work services, focused on regions UKH11 and UKH12 in the United Kingdom.

This tender process presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in health and social care, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). These businesses can explore market feasibility, delivery models, and provide valuable input into the design of future procurement. Participation in the preliminary engagement can help businesses gain insights into expected costs, risks, and barriers, thereby preparing them to compete effectively should a full tender or alternative routes be pursued. It is an excellent opportunity for those in the sector to not only expand their operations but also to contribute meaningfully to community health services.
