## Summary

The procurement process for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services is managed by the NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board. It falls under the health services category and is located in the UKD4 region, specifically Preston, United Kingdom. The process has moved to the intention-to-award stage as of 17th April 2026. Under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Regulations 2023, the procurement utilises a limited method without prior publication of a call for competition. Providers can make representations by 29th April 2026. The standstill period began shortly after publication, and the contract, valued at approximately £16,975,000, is yet to be formally awarded but follows a direct award route to the existing provider, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

This tender represents an opportunity for existing healthcare providers, especially those specialising in non-emergency transport services, to secure a significant contract within the health sector. The procurement process, being a direct award to an existing provider, ensures continuity of service, considered highly beneficial for entities with a proven track record in delivering patient transport services. Businesses that focus on improving access, reducing health inequalities, and facilitating choice while delivering value, quality, integration, and sustainability are well-positioned to engage in similar opportunities. The focus on social value also underscores the importance of community impact, encouraging businesses to leverage their social responsibility initiatives to enhance their marketability in future contracts.
