## Summary

Durham County Council has initiated a procurement process for the hire of venues across County Durham to support various education and training programmes under the framework titled "003484 - Venue Hire for DurhamLearn". This opportunity is structured as a multiple Lot Framework, covering areas such as Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Supported Employment provision, Adult Education and Apprenticeship provision, and medium to large-scale education and engagement events. Procured under the open procedure method, this process encourages submissions from suitable venue providers that can meet specific training needs, location preferences, type, and size requirements. The procurement is currently at the award stage, with contracts expected to commence on 1st September 2026 and run until 31st August 2030 across the UKC14 region.

This framework presents significant opportunities for businesses capable of providing venue hire services tailored to educational needs. The open procedure allows various types of businesses, including SMEs and VCSEs, to compete, facilitating growth in their educational and training venue offerings. Given the diverse nature of requirements, businesses specialising in hotel meeting and conference services, along with non-residential property renting, are particularly well-suited to participate. The framework's flexibility, including the provision to reopen it for more providers, allows businesses to continually align their offerings with ongoing educational demands, thus driving continual business development and expansion opportunities in the public sector.
