## Summary

NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has completed the award stage of its procurement process for the Allied Pharmacy Contract 2026/27 in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The contract, effective from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027, falls under the Health Care Services sector specifically classified as pharmacy services. This procurement is conducted via a direct award process under the Provider Selection Regime in accordance with the 2023 Health Care Services Regulations, bypassing the need for prior competition publication. Key decision-making authority is held by the Barnsley Place Chief Finance Officer, ensuring no conflicts of interest in the award. The service integrates locally enhanced services with additional pharmacy contracts, highlighting its strategic importance to the region.

The tender presents a significant opportunity for pharmacies already holding contracts via the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework to deliver enhanced services in Barnsley. Due to service interdependencies, multiple pharmacies could potentially engage in such contracts, provided they meet the criteria and specifications set. While the procurement employs a limited method, consistent with the repetition of existing services rationale, businesses adept at enhancing pharmacy services and maintaining local price activity bases will find viable growth prospects. Large-scale businesses like Allied Pharmacy have demonstrated competitiveness, ensuring that they meet quality criteria like patient choice, which emphasize service quality over price. This tender underscores sizeable growth potential for pharmacies aligned with contractual frameworks.

## Notice

The provider is commissioner to deliver locally enhanced services for the Barnsley population integrated with their additional pharmacy contracts.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The Contract Award has been made following direct award process B under the Provider Selection Regime.

This contract is awarded to an existing provider for an existing service. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (pharmacy) is because they are required to hold a contract via the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the (CPCF) contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount. For this reason not every Pharmacy delivers every LCS.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices.

The contract runs from 01/04/2026 to 31/03/2027.
