## Summary

The procurement process led by the NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has concluded with the awarding of a contract for pharmacy services to Cohens Pharmacy, to provide locally enhanced services for the Barnsley area. The contract, officially signed on 29th April 2026, will run from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027. The process falls under the Provider Selection Regime and adheres to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. This specific contract pertains to the delivery of integrated services alongside existing pharmacy agreements, highlighting the pharmacy services classification under the CPV code 85149000. The procurement method was limited, with a direct award procedure without prior publication, focusing on repetition of existing services.

This contract presents opportunities for pharmacy businesses, especially those capable of meeting the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) requirements, as it emphasises delivering locally enhanced services (LCS) integrated with existing contractual obligations. Such pharmacies may benefit from activity-based payments tailored to local pricing structures. The specific focus on health services within Barnsley highlights an area ripe for businesses already engaged in the healthcare sector or looking to expand their service offerings. Pharmacies that can effectively enhance their service provisions and comply with interdependent service criteria stand poised to seize growth opportunities within the healthcare market in South Yorkshire.

## Notice

The provider is commissioner to deliver locally enhanced services for the Barnsley population integrated with their additional pharmacy contracts.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The Contract Award has been made following direct award process B under the Provider Selection Regime.

This contract is awarded to an existing provider for an existing service. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (pharmacy) is because they are required to hold a contract via the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the (CPCF) contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount. For this reason not every Pharmacy delivers every LCS.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices.

The contract runs from 01/04/2026 to 31/03/2027.
