## Summary

The NHS Central East Integrated Care Board (ICB) is in the process of awarding a contract for community vasectomy services within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, classified under the health services category. The procurement method used is a direct award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, part of the Provider Selection Regime as per the 2023 Health Care Services regulations. This notice, dated 29th April 2026, signifies the start of the standstill period, during which representations must be made by 13th May 2026. The contract is intended to be awarded to three existing providers for a period of 12 months, from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027, although formal awarding has not yet occurred.

This procurement could present significant opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those with expertise in non-scalpel vasectomy services. The contract involves a substantial indicative budget of £260,971, to be split among the three providers. These providers include large-scale medical practices such as Bretton Surgery in Peterborough, Buckden Surgery in St Neots, and Monkfield Medical Practice in Cambridge. Businesses in the healthcare sector capable of meeting the service requirements and navigating the Provider Selection Regime would be ideally positioned to compete and potentially facilitate their growth through collaboration with the NHS Central East ICB. With changes anticipated in the structure of Integrated Care Boards, businesses involved will need to adapt to evolving organisational landscapes.
