## Summary

The Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is in the planning stage for a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) contract notice concerning the Enhanced Care Unit project. This planned procurement, under the jurisdiction of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, aims to establish a new enhanced care service within the West Midlands, specifically catering to children and adolescents requiring mental health services. The market engagement event, scheduled for 13th May 2026, will be held online via MS Teams, with registration required by 12th May 2026. The project, with a planned duration of three years and a possible extension of an additional two years, carries an indicative annual contract value of £4,800,000. The Enhanced Care Unit is classified under health services, with a focus on psychiatric hospital services, and the procurement is initiated but remains in a planning status. The eventual contract value is estimated at £24,000,000. Potential providers are invited to participate in a market engagement event to express interest in this essential, service-oriented project.

This tender opportunity presents substantial growth potential for healthcare providers specialising in mental health services, particularly those experienced in providing specialised and trauma-responsive environments for children and young people. Firms with expertise in sensory-integrated care for autism and the ability to manage risks associated with disordered eating will find this an ideal opportunity, especially if looking to establish a footprint in the West Midlands. By participating in this procurement, businesses can collaborate with a renowned NHS Trust, enhance their service offerings, and contribute to a vital healthcare initiative. The provision of a specialist inpatient care solution aligns with reducing the need for high-security environments, thus offering a unique market positioning for adept providers ready to meet the delivery start date in January 2027. Participation in this procurement process, governed by specific healthcare regulations, will allow businesses to engage with public sector procurement and expand their portfolio in specialised mental health services.
