## Summary

The NHS Surrey and Sussex Integrated Care Board has completed the procurement process for the provision of antiviral medication through community pharmacy providers to treat influenza-like illnesses. This tender, operating under the Provider Selection Regime and not subject to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, focuses on pharmacy services, specifically targeting the Surrey Heartlands area. The procurement method was limited, with the contract term covering from 1st April 2026 to 31st October 2027. The overall contract has been awarded to Ricky's Pharmacy with a value of £1,500 over 18 months, additional fees apply for specific services like call-outs and deliveries. The decision was influenced by criteria related to integration, collaboration, health inequalities reduction, quality and innovation, value, and social impacts, with a significant emphasis on improving access and reducing health inequalities. The award was finalised on 31st March 2026.

This contract presents valuable opportunities for businesses involved in pharmacy services, especially those capable of scaling operations during peak flu seasons or pandemics. Firms that specialize in community pharmacy services and can demonstrate strong collaborative links with primary care providers are well-positioned to benefit. The procurement is designed to foster healthier communities by providing timely access to antiviral medications, thereby reducing the burden on more costly healthcare services like GPs and A&E departments. Moreover, the contract encourages early intervention in the community setting, promoting sustainable local business growth and resilience. Companies aiming to expand in the health sector can leverage this procurement to enhance service delivery and build robust partnerships within the primary healthcare ecosystem.
