## Summary

Sheffield City Council is the buying authority for the open tender of the "Bikeability Cycle Training 2026" programme, a project that falls under the services industry category with a focus on education and training services. This initiative is aimed at providing cycle training to increase safety and confidence among cyclists in Sheffield. The procurement is currently in the 'tender' stage with a deadline for submission of bids set for 14 July 2026, and the deadline for enquiries ending on 26 June 2026. The project has a gross value of £2,116,798 GBP, with the procurement process conducted through an open procedure. This contract, funded by the Department for Transport and managed by The Bikeability Trust, is expected to commence on 24 August 2026 and may extend up to 2030 subject to funding availability.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses specialising in educational and training services, particularly those with expertise in providing cycle training. Companies with qualified instructors who are knowledgeable in delivering training in line with the National Standard for Cycle Training are well-positioned to benefit. The emphasis on quality, weighing 80% in the award criteria, underscores the importance of delivering superior service. The project welcomes participation from SMEs and VCSEs, thereby encouraging a diverse range of businesses to engage. The potential for extending the contract further suggests sustained opportunities for business growth, provided continued funding is secured. This tender, therefore, stands as an advantageous proposition for companies eager to expand their service offerings within the cycling education sector.

## Notice

Bikeability training is delivered by qualified instructors to teach cycling skills, confidence, and safety in line with the National Standard. It covers three levels - basic handling, quiet roads, complex traffic. Training is funded by the Department for Transport and managed by The Bikeability Trust.
